What It’s Like To Be An Entrepreneur – Network After Work Ross Kimbarovsky | May 11th, 2011

We’re thrilled to be part of a new web/TV reality series – Trep Life – giving audiences a unique, 360-degree view of what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur.

Each episode will focus on one company or organization. The first episode was about our friends Matt Maloney and Mike Evans from Grub Hub – a terrific place to find every restaurant that will deliver to you. Subsequent episodes featured Lara Miller, a designer and Executive Director of the Chicago Fashion Incubator, serial entrepreneur Howard Tullman, and Redbox Founder Mark Rechler.

The current episode features Network After Work. Watch below:

From many minds, the perfect design. Post your project today and let the crowd wow you!

  • Being an entrepreneur means that you have to put in some 13 hour days and work weekends in order to grow the business

  • Anonymous

Entrepreneur is an over-used word these days. If you are a business owner, you are not necessarily an entrepreneur. Looking forward to watching tehse videos and see if they are able to distill it.

  • Interesting how the ‘myth’ of having to work 16 hours a day around the clock is easily adopted by new entrepreneurs…But why?
Working long hours does not mean more income!  Sorry but that is not wealth thinking…

Bottom line, if you have to work in an office of 10×10 from home cramped with your partner of life for 20 hours a day (for what income too…$50k a year?) and have “drinks” as your main activity outside work, you must know that there is a problem.

And the problem is that, in this economy, entrepreneurs feel it is ok or the norm to work long hours (or just ‘work’ for that matter) and sacrifice relationship, health, and more.

There is a much better way. I know since I have been entrepreneur for 3 years, earning a better income than when I worked for Fortune 500, while having a lifestyle I would have never thought possible. It takes more creativity than ‘working hard’ to succeed.

Having said that, I recognize that is something most new entrepreneurs struggle with…
