How To Find Your First Customers And Grow Your Business Ross Kimbarovsky | April 5th, 2011

Entrepreneurs frequently ask me for advice on finding early customers for a product or service, and how to leverage those customers to market to a larger community of potential customers.

This is not easy to do, but there are a few things you can do that can help. In this video, I offer five tips, based on my experience with crowdSPRING.

    That’s some great advice, as usual, Ross. You’re spot on about not implementing every feature that customers ask for. Every feature you add is technical debt that you have to pay interest on forever once it is added. If you aren’t brutally selective about the features to add, your start-up will collapse very quickly under the weight of its technical debt especially if your start-up has a fixed amount of seed money. Every dollar counts and every line of code costs. Spending time and effort to bring in one more customer in the early days is likely to pay off much more than adding yet another feature.

    Don’t get discouraged! So hard to remember at times. Thanks for encouragement. Reinforcement in reference to activities not directly involved in your business so important. The old create “positive energy” thing and rounding out your world. Other people so important.
