Weekly Glance of Awesomeness #2 admin | August 7th, 2008

Hello ladies and gents,
Welcome to the second installment of my Weekly Glance of Awesomeness. If you didn’t catch last week’s dose of awesome, every Thursday I’ll climb the peak of Mount crowdSPRING to seek out interesting projects on our site. If you have any tips or suggestions for future Glances of Awesomeness, feel free to leave a comment with the link, and I’ll be sure to check it out.

This week, I’ve convinced other members of the crowdSPRING staff to contribute some of their favorite projects. All it took was a little bribe: I told them that as a reward, I would Photoshop their head onto Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body. Needless to say, they all clamored for a spot in this blog! You can see my not-so-fine Photoshop craftmanship after the project features….

Glance #1: Create the MuslimHalves.com Logo
The Award: $200
End Date: August 9th
The Breakdown: There are plenty of dating sites on the internet, and millions of people use them. However, it’s not every day that matrimonial sites pop up. Help people meet their match, and say “I do!” by creating the new logo design for MuslimHalves.com. Then, you can feel all warm and fuzzy by saying your branding is partially responsible for creating happy couples all over the world. I’d imagine that would score you some major karmic points. (cS developer Chris’ pick!)

Glance #2: Gaspedal Needs 5 Happy People
The Award: $500
End Date: August 9th
The Breakdown: Last week, I attended GasPedal‘s “Word of Mouth Marketing Crash Course.” These fellow Chicagoans are marketing consultants for big timers such as HP and Dell, and the shiny, happy guy that they use for all of their crash course displays is getting a little lonely. So, GasPedal has decided that he needs a couple of friends who are equally as enthusiastic and smiley as he is. We’d love for all you illustrators out there to give him a few co-workers: perhaps an inter-office love interest for a bit of scandal?? Get creative with it!

Glance #3: YogaDownload.com Redesign
The Award: $1,500
End Date: August 13th
The Breakdown: Yoga nuts can take their workouts anywhere with YogaDownload. This site really embraces the meaning of ‘to go,’ offering lessons in formats such as video, slide-show, and audio w/ PDF pose guide. They’re looking for crowdSPRING’s creatives that can sleek their site up. Maybe in exchange, you can refine your Lotus pose! (cS developer Jen’s pick!)

Glance #4: Name + Design a Crowdfunding Venture
The Award: $1,000
End Date: August 18th
The Breakdown: This company name project is a crowdSPRING first. Some mad geniuses have been slaving away in their computer lab to develop a web application for fundraising. Now they need to name their baby and give it a face! It’s a neat opportunity – no pre-existing taglines, identity, or name to stifle your creativity.

There you have it for this week, folks. Tune in next week for more Glances of Awesomeness, and feel free to send me any leads!

P.S. Here are the awesome pics of Jen and Chris on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body as I promised..If only everyone were so lucky!
