We're Ready For Mixed Doubles in Ping-Pong Ross | July 17th, 2008

Only a very small percentage of developers are women. This already tiny number is even smaller in the open source community.

Google – one of the most successful companies on this planet – has one of the best educated group of employees in the world. And Google credits much of its success to its emphasis on diversity, culture and perspectives in the workplace.

We’re very pleased that Jen Stander has joined our team this week. Jen is a talented PHP developer and one of the original members of DevChix – a knowledgeable and talented group of women developers.

Jen joins us at an exciting time. We’ve been humbled by the strong reaction we’ve received following our launch in May. Our community has been remarkable in helping us – giving us tons of suggestions, tweaks, reporting bugs, and in helping us to understand some of the challenging philosophical questions that we face in operating the crowdSPRING marketplace. Jen (and Angeline Vuong, our new Community Manager) will help our team to improve our marketplace and will give us a perspective that’s been missing since we launched. We’re so pleased to have them join our team and we look forward to together facing the exciting challenges ahead.
